Description
It is a collection of coming-of-age poems about a young adult who perceives the world around her. The themes range from love, women, politics, religion, and life in general. The poems are divided into three categories named ‘Unoccupied’; ‘Uninhabited’, which consists of short poems on love, relationships, and intimacy; and ‘Erode’. However, the last section, ‘Newspeak’, is a series of experimental poems that I have tried. These poems are composed by extracting lines, phrases, and words from various news articles which have thoroughly covered some of the devilish problems that our world is facing at the moment such as immigration, gun violence, and discrimination. These poems, specifically, may be a rough-read but they are intended to be read in that way because when you read something that is roughly written, you find it agitating to even finish a sentence. These poems provoke a similar kind of mood and that is exactly what they are intended for.
