Description
What do women want from the workplace?
Read 10 stories that explore white collar workplace dynamics with women as central characters. The themes discussed include returning to work, negotiating for better pay, managing performance, building family support and professional networks, among others. The stories illustrate that the journey to a successful career is complicated for women despite access to education and other support and pushes readers to introspect on their own behaviors at the workplace. A must read for any woman professional and male allies aspiring to transform the workplace.
Bharath G –
Interesting foray into the lives of career minded women and the challenges they face after entering a new phase of their life called motherhood. Juggling between roles of a daughter, wife, mother and that of a employee is no small task. Going through the stories it is quite clear that all of the women mentioned just want an unbiased opportunity to prove themselves. While it can be observed that in general women resign or shy away from extra responsibilities at the workplace, ones who want to contribute resent coming under a pitiful or a biased evaluation of their capabilities.
The book is a chance at introspection and perhaps a chance for a change of the existing mindsets towards working mothers and women in general.
