Description
In the year 1961, a respectable and educated family migrated to Timarpur, Delhi, in a government quarter for the purpose of higher education for the children. Here the family, especially the children, found life very arduous due to a strange environment without any friends and other means of entertainment, and they were even looked down upon by people. Everybody in the family chose science stream for their higher education, worked very hard for years and ultimately got their degrees in Engineering or Science after lots of hardships. Gradually, everybody got jobs and then married and had kids.
The author gives a beautiful picture of simplicity of life and culture in his university days. He also describes his family life and the hardships that his son, Shishir, faced at various stages of his life which the author handled in his own unique way, boldly at times deviating from the beaten track. People will be amazed to read about the life of middle-class families in the 60s and the 70s, which was much different than today.
Overall, the book has many interesting stories that will keep the reader hooked to the book. The book is also very informative. It is a must read for couples with young kids.
